Just hanging out, spending an evening sitting and singing. Chant circles are usually scheduled for two Fridays each month. See the Schedule of Events for details.

The chants tend to be a sprinkling of music from several faith traditions. Some rounds, some counter-melodies and harmonies. Often, I prepare a list of chants before the evening begins, but I am always open to including requests from participants. The gatherings are informal. If chants include foreign languages, I offer translations and teach pronunciation as needed.

I bring guitars and a drum, Deborah Ogden often accompanies on drums, and feel free to bring other instruments or just pick up rattling noisy toys from the circle. Participants are always welcome to teach/share chants they know as well.

A compilation of chants is available on the bottom of this page for your downloading and perusing pleasure. It is a work in progress. You can also hear some sound clips of recorded chants with the links to the right.
